It’s natural to have questions before starting occupational therapy. Below you’ll find answers to some of the questions we’re asked most often about referrals, assessments, reports, fees, appointments and what to expect from working with Tandem OT. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
No, you can contact us directly. Many families reach out on their own when they have concerns about their child’s development. Referrals are also welcome from GPs, schools, and other professionals, but they are not required to begin support.
Yes. Written reports can be provided for parents, schools, or other professionals when requested. Reports include a clear summary of your child’s strengths, challenges, and practical recommendations for home and school. This can be particularly useful when liaising with teachers or other healthcare providers.
Fees vary depending on the type of assessment or therapy session required. Because every child’s needs are different, we’ll provide you with a clear breakdown during your initial call before any sessions are arranged. This ensures transparency and allows you to make the decision that feels right for your family.
We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This helps us manage our schedule fairly and offer the slot to another family who may be waiting. We understand that life with children can be unpredictable, so if your child is unwell or something unexpected comes up, please let us know as soon as you can.
Unhappily, late cancellations or missed sessions will still need to be charged at 50%, as the time has been set aside for your child.
Absolutely. Parents are encouraged to be part of every session. We’ll show you strategies and activities that can be built into your daily routines, making it easier for your child to keep practising between visits. Many parents find this involvement helps them feel more confident in supporting their child day to day.
